Eltham College is an Independent School in Mottingham, South East London. 2004 was our first year of entry in the Greenpower Challenge. The team consisted of a group of 20 enthusiastic pupils ranging from year 7 to year 11. They designed and built our first car Evo 1. We entered two cars in 2005 Evo 2 and The Beast.
We are currently working on our new car for this year Evo 3!
What is the Greenpower Challenge?Greenpower is a non-profit making company supported by a number of sponsors that is dedicated to promoting engineering and technology as careers in both secondary and primary schools in the United Kingdom.
The Greenpower Challenge is a national competition for schools all over the country to design, build and race an electrically powered racing car.
The races are six hour endurance races – just keeping the car running for six hours is an achievement. There are heats nationwide throughout the summer, and the teams that qualify, make it to the national final at Goodwood Race Circuit.
